Welcome to a different pub
The Lord Nelson Inn, one of the older Totnes pubs.
The Nelson aims to be a welcoming pub to all and sundry. We have a very appetising menu (check our food chapter!),
and we are sourcing our supplies as much as possible from local outlets, and where we can, use natural produce.
We have a lively sports culture with 2 Darts Teams playing in the Totnes League, 2 Pool teams, 1 playing in the Moorland Winter League (Tuesdays) and 1 in the Totnes Winter League (Wednesdays).
We have a very successful rowing team which won the 2012 Longbow Canoeing Race(check the pics on the sports pages
on the Dart in June (check out the pictures on our home page!
The Nelson has 2 large widescreens and we show most of the matches. Like your sports?
Come and join us!
A bit of history
The first registration we could find was 1837. In 1866 the pub was briefly used as a place ‘ to receive dead bodies’ , which now we would probably call a mortuary.
No, we are not making any assumptions, suggestions or connotations which would inflict mental discomfort on our present much appreciated clientele.
We open 7 days a week from 11 in the morning till closing time. Our beer garden is one of the few nicer beer gardens in town en is very pleasant to enjoy the occasional ray of sunshine, regular barbecues etc. The best time to use the beer garden is daytime when you can make the most of the weather or fresh air.
Enjoy the sketch below which was drawn in 1856 by N W Deckamant and underneath some remarkable facts about Totnes.
Hope to see you soon.
